Anthony “Tony” Abbati, age 66, passed on from this world on Monday, July 14, 2025, peacefully in his home in Forest Park, Illinois, after living with Parkinson’s Disease for several years.
Born March 2, 1959 in Chicago to Reco and Josephine Abbati, Tony was one of six children in a large and loving family. He graduated from St. Rita High School in 1977 and attended Southern Illinois University briefly before returning to the city, where he lived on 22nd Place and worked at Harris Bank. He later moved to Forest Park Illinois, and worked for Forest Park Bank, where he recently retired after nearly 17 years of loyal service.
Tony enjoyed travel and often shared his love for California, offering advice and photos to anyone planning a trip to San Diego. He played baseball and softball in his youth, and was a lifelong Cubs fan. Though quiet, he was a man of many interests; he played guitar and loved music, enjoyed fishing, golf, and bowling, loved coffee, and connected with friends and family while gaming. He was a beloved neighbor to many and served on his condo association board.
Tony is preceded in his death by his parents Reco and Josephine, and his brother Joseph (Mary). He will be greatly missed by his friends and his family, including his surviving older siblings Dian Clare, Dennis (Joan), Patricia Mladic (Robert), and his younger sister Pamela Sandoval (Gabriel), along with many cousins, nieces and nephews who knew him fondly as "Unki." His amused smile, quick sense of humor, and warm laugh will live on through many family gatherings in the future.
