Beverly "Babe" Ora (Reeves) Grochowski

BEVERLY O. "Babe" GROCHOWSKI, age 87, was born February 21, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to Russell and Elizabeth Reeves.  She married Jerome Grochowski in Lisle, Illinois on September 23, 1951 and was his beloved wife for 70 years.  Babe passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 surrounded in love by her family.

Babe was the loving mother of John (Marcy) Grochowski, Beverly (Michael) Knott, Debbie (George) Funk, Jay (Rhonda) Grochowski and Jeri (Michael) Bonomo; loving grandmother of David Grochowski, Erin Knott, Kevin (Rachel) Knott, Michelle Funk, Lauren (Kelin) Althoff, Stefan Grochowski, Mallory Peterson, Michael Bonomo, and Jonathan Bonomo; great-grandmother of Dean Althoff; dear sister of Anne Gill of Sycamore, and Russell Reeves of Foley, Alabama; and fond aunt to sixteen nieces and nephews.  Babe was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marcia Dooley of Lisle.

Bev married her high school sweetheart Jerry Grochowski and settled down in their hometown of Lisle, IL where she was very active in the Lisle community.  She was involved in the Lisle Lioness Club, girls' youth softball, Girl Scouts and the Lisle High School Boosters.  Bev loved bowling and picked up golf for the first time as an empty nester.  After a number of years at Tree Gables in Lisle, Bev worked for over two decades at Andy's Steakhouse in Oakbrook Terrace, while raising her family of five.

As a grandmother for the past thirty-seven years, Bev attended countless activities, events, and graduations involving her nine grandchildren.  She loved to travel, play bingo, dinners with friends and spending time at the local casinos. An active member of the Community Christian Church in Carillon (Plainfield), Bev loved Elvis even more than Disney World and Hallmark Christmas movies.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Community Christian Church, 24035 W. Riverwalk Ct., Plainfield, Illinois from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon.  A short memorial service will begin at noon.
