Evelyne (Schmied) Frentzos, age 89, passed away on May 15, 2025, after an extended illness.
Evelyne was born on February 27, 1936, in Odrau (Odry) in the German Sudetenland region, located in Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic). After the war, in 1947, her family was relocated to Sandhausen, Germany.
Evelyne met her future husband, Tom, who was stationed in Heidelberg while in the U.S. Army, and they married in 1956. In 1958, Tom was re-assigned, returning home to Ohio, bringing his new wife Evelyne, along with two sons, to begin their life together in the United States. Shortly after they arrived, a daughter was added to the family.
Evelyne was an avid gardener and lover of the outdoors. Her large flower garden brought her much admiration and compliments from her neighbors. Evelyne was also very talented with knitting needles. Through the years all of her children, grandchildren and friends received many gifts of afghans, scarves, sweaters and knitted hats as presents.
Evelyne is survived by her husband of 69 years, Tom Frentzos; son Dimitri (Karla) Frentzos and daughter Alexandra (John) Schroeder; grandchildren Diana (Mike) Knorr, Theo Frentzos, John (Sara) Schroeder Jr., Ryan Schroeder; great-granddaughter Eveline Knorr; sister Erika McVay of Odessa Texas; brothers Hans Schmied, Olaf Schmied, sisters Astrid Lacipieras and Almut Total-Baumann in Germany. She was preceded in death by her son, Panagiotis Frentzos, grandsons Thanasi Frentzos and Christopher Frentzos and a sister, Valerie Peche of Millington, Michigan.
