Henry Kolman, Jr. Obituary

HENRY E. KOLMAN, JR

Henry passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the age of 93 surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his parents, Josephine and Henry, and brother, Robert. Henry is survived by his loving wife Lillian, son Henry John (Mary), grandson Allen, nephews John (Nancy), Rich (Sue), Greg (Pam), and niece Kathy Siemianowski.

Henry was born and grew up in Chicago and enjoyed many years as a drummer in the Billy Reich Band. He also had many stories of boating experiences on Fox Lake and of his favorite Chrysler and Cadillac cars. He married Lillian after returning from his service in the US Air Force.

In the later years, life took Henry and Lillian to Okemos, Michigan continuing his career in truck manufacturing at Diamond Reo, where he was known as Hank. He enjoyed many summer weekends boating on Lake Michigan with the family on his favorite Chris-Craft Roamer. When the lake was rough we will always remember him calling it a “Roamer Day.”

Life would take Henry and Lillian to Mishawaka, Indiana where he would continue working with trucks at AM General. He recounted many stories of building military trucks and Humvees. One of his happiest moments was taking his grandson and a friend on an off road proving ground ride in a Humvee.

Henry was blessed to enjoy a long retirement with Lillian.  Henry, or Uncle Heinie, as he was known to many, will be truly missed by all his family and friends.  Henry was always very proud of his Slovenian heritage.

He requested in lieu of flowers donations in his name be made to:

St. Mary’s Slovenian Catholic Mission Church
