Herbert J. Johnson

 Herbert J. Johnson, Jr., age 71, was born January 14, 1949 in Hinsdale, Illinois the son of the late Herbert J. Johnson, Sr. and late Elsie Matson Johnson.  Herb went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2020 in Chicago, Illinois.

  Herb was the loving father of Scott (Kathryn) Johnson and Kevin Johnson; cherished grandfather of Lillian and Calvin Johnson; dear brother of Sandra Jensen (David Alsup); beloved fiancé of Cindy Jaworek; step-father of Jill Jaworek and the late Todd Jaworek; step-grandfather of Kira Jaworek; Herb was like a “special dad” to Rick Hollingsworth and a good friend to many.

  He was raised, active and felt close to Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle, Illinois.  Herb served 22 years in the United States Naval Reserves, retiring from the Reserves in 1995.  He had a successful professional career working 33 years in the printer business, retiring as a service manager from Konica-Minolta in 2015.  He also worked in the construction business building houses and found satisfaction in doing that.

  Herb was an avid golfer that would take golf trips to play fabulous courses around the U.S.  He was also a car enthusiast and enjoyed watching live racing, especially at Joliet Motor Speedway and the Indy 500.  During his lifetime, Herb owned three Corvettes of his own.

  He loved animals, was generous and would do anything to help others.

  Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 1:00 pm until time of Funeral Service 3:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1101 Kimberly Way, Lisle, Illinois.

  Due to Covid-19, there is a limited capacity available for the Memorial Service.  Those not planning to attend the Service at 3:00 pm, please pay your respects during the first hour of the visitation, between 1:00 – 2:00 pm.  Also note a mask will be required for attendees while inside the church.

  In lieu of flowers and in loving memory of Herb, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
