Janice M. Bastian, age 71, was born November 9, 1948 in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of George Dale Hensley and Patricia Ann Brooks Hensley. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving children on April 29, 2020 in Bolingbrook, Illinois.
She was the beloved mother of Lisa (Jude) Velazquez, Brian Dresar and Renee (Roger) Vogtmann and loving grandmother of Michael Jardine and Riley Vogtmann.
Janice was exceptionally smart, even as a young girl and was the Valedictorian of her 8th grade class. She graduated high school in 1966 in Georgetown, Illinois, then went on to earn an Associates Degree in Nursing from Joliet Junior College in 1976. To continue learning and growing in her career, she earned her Bachelors Degree in 1998 from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.
Janice loved to travel and favorite destinations included the always exciting Las Vegas, the amazing Badlands of South Dakota and the beautiful Wisconsin Dells. She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, playing Yahtzee, planting flowers, needlepoint and reading. One of her best pastimes was painting ceramics. Janice created a stunning collection of hand painted figures that could rival anyones. She also was comforted by going to church and going to the Lisle Senior Center to play cards. She enjoyed watching football and boxing and, of course, going shopping.
A Memorial Service will be held at a future date. Please check back for updated information.
