Jesus Hernandez

Jesus Hernandez, of Oak Lawn, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the age of 73. 

Jesus was born in Mexico, on July 13, 1951, to Francisco and Genoveva (nee Saldana) Hernandez. Jesus moved to United States in his early twenties with only a few dollars in his pocket. Despite having minimal formal education, he was a smart man who began working for a construction company, had a side business making carpentry, and eventually owned and managed multiple properties in Chicago. He provided for his family and always encouraged his four children to pursue education. Jesus was a driven, hardworking man, deeply proud of his achievements. He will always be remembered for his kindness, determination, and friendly demeanor. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. 

Jesus is survived by his children Margie (Jose) Hernandez-Tolentino, Yesenia (Daniel) Hart, Anthony (Kelly) Hernandez, and Joseph Hernandez; his grandchildren Aiden Tolentino, Maximiliano Hernandez, and a new grandchild due in November; his siblings Jose (Alma Delia) Hernandez and Santiago Hernandez.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Armando Hernandez, and wife Martha Hernandez.

Visitation Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 3 pm until 8 pm at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 SW Highway, Palos Hills, IL 60465.  Prayers at the funeral home 9 am on Wednesday, September 25, proceeding to 10 am Funeral Mass at St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, 8200 S. Kostner Avenue, Chicago, IL 60652.  Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery in Oak Lawn.
