Kimberly Ray Alonzo, born November 17, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois. Kim along with her husband, John, have made their home for the last decade in Elburn, Illinois. Kim passed away on May 30, 2015. She was the beloved wife for 30 years of John F. Alonzo; devoted mother of Jeremiah, Jessica and the late Peter Thomas Alonzo; cherished daughter of Dr. Thomas (Kathleen) Murphy and Wanita Murphy; dear sister of Gregory (Sue Medak) Murphy, Doug (Hilda) Murphy, and Michael (Karen Gundersen) Murphy; daughter-in-law of Marietta (Leroy) Moon; fond sister-in-law of Peter (Leslie) Alonzo, Nancy (Gene) Bortolameolli, Rose (Kevin) Nelson, and Joe (Cheryl) Alonzo; adored aunt of many nieces and nephews. Kim will also be greatly missed by her beloved companions, Jackson and Kelly.
Kim had a passion for nursing, for taking care of others, for helping. She began her career in nursing at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, worked a stint and met dear friends at Dryer Medical Clinic, then transitioned into hospice care, serving as a valued nurse with Vitas Hospice for about 10 years.
Kim loved to make people laugh. She would often be the practical joker, and others loved her for it. Those who knew Kim gravitated toward her. Her smile and laugh were like good medicine to others. They felt better after being around her. She loved entertaining for others and cooking. Kim was a great hostess. Proper, yet relaxed and funny. She also loved the beach....any beach, but particularly her beach in Frankfort, Michigan, by the lighthouse. She loved travel, especially the Carribean. She loved waterfalls...and beauty and family and laughter. Kim was an original. She brought joy to all around and will be missed by all who had the priviledge to know her.
