Michael D."Mike" Barry

  Michael D. “Mike” Barry, age 70, was born December 1, 1948 in Aurora, IL.  He passed away peacefully on August 15, 2019 in his sleep after a long battle with lung cancer.  Mike was the beloved husband for 17 years of Catherine Barry, nee Weber, of Plano; loving son of Helen and George Collins of Plano; cherished father of Melissa (Rod) Barry of Earlville IL, Allison (Jim) Barry-Balt of Hinckley IL, Brian (Brittany) Browning of Glen Ellyn IL, Mary (David) Koch of Leland, IL and Stephanie Jones of Plano IL. Dear brother of Darrell Collins of Orland Park IL, and Tim Barry of Joliet, IL.  Cherished grandfather of Michelle, Jacob, Breanna, Dylan, Alexander, Donny, Molly, Cameron, David, and Reid;and great-grandfather of Dean.  Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father Edwin “Fred” Barry.  

  Mike was a US Army veteran who served two tours in the Vietnam war. After the service, he settled into a career as a semi truck driver for 44 years until his retirement in December of 2013. 

  Family and friends are invited to stop in for a casual and grateful Celebration of Mike’s life on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm with Military Honors conducted at 4:45 pm at the Yorkville American Legion Post #489, 9054 E.
