Pheodis "Pete" Hargrove

Pheodis “Pete” Hargrove, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2021 in Naperville, Illinois. Pheodis was born on June 4th, 1932 in Hannon, Alabama and lived there until he was 10 years old. He then moved to Columbus, Georgia with his mother, Susie, and brother, Henry. Pete spent the next 26 years there and worked at Bibb Mill and Camp Concrete Company.  He moved to Illinois in 1968 and lived in LaGrange, Westmont, Woodridge, and finally Aurora. He was a proud employee of General Motors Corporation for 30 years. He also worked for Sears in Oak Brook for 12 years. 

Pete was very active in the church. Serving as a trustee, on the board of directors, as an usher and taught bible school. He enjoyed music of all genres, but gospel was his favorite. His love of music led him to learning how to play the guitar. 

Pete was preceded in death by his son, Micheal Hargrove, daughter, Beatrice Hargrove, stepson, Joseph Lee, granddaughter, Lana Hargrove, and brother, Henry Hargrove. Left to cherish his memory are his adoring wife of 17 years, Demena E. Hargrove, his daughters, Viola Ward, Patricia Young and Mattie Hargrove, stepchildren, Bertha Lee Meadows, Nicole Marie Thompson, Joseph Michael Thompson, and Malcolm Jamal Thompson. He was the cherished brother to Martha Lois Hargrove and Louise Plant. He was the loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was a fond uncle, cousin and friend to many. 

Pete will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, due to Covid-19 restrictions.
