Randall Scheuneman Obituary

Randall James Scheuneman, 58, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in Libertyville, Illinois, on September 26, 2026. He was born on October 18, 1967, in Hammond, Indiana, and grew up in Lansing, Illinois.

Randall was a man who loved his family deeply and took great pride in the life they built together. In 1991, he married Heather Lynn Thiele, beginning a marriage filled with love, laughter, friendship, and countless memories. In 2002, Randall and Heather made their home in Libertyville, Illinois, where they raised their family and created a place that would always be home.

Randall was a devoted husband and father who cherished his time with his family. He was especially proud of his three sons and, later, his grandson, Roran. He was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved, whether gathered around the dinner table, cheering on his favorite teams, or enjoying time together at Winona Lake, Indiana, with family and friends. Those who knew Randall will remember his loyalty, generosity, steady presence, and the importance he placed on the people closest to him.

Randall was also a lifelong Fighting Illini fan. His connection to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign ran especially deep. He earned his B.S. in Accounting from the university and had the opportunity to play basketball for the Fighting Illini. He later earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Randall had a successful and respected career in finance and accounting. He began his professional career at Arthur Andersen, later working at Grainger and Grainger’s Lab Safety Supply subsidiary. He ultimately became Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer at Illinois Tool Works. While he took great pride in his professional accomplishments, his greatest sense of fulfillment came from his family and the relationships he built throughout his life.

Randall is survived by his beloved wife, Heather; sons Robert (Norma) Scheuneman, Scott Scheuneman, and James (Victoria) Scheuneman; grandson Roran Scheuneman; parents Bob and Sandy Scheuneman; sister Beth (Brian) Bock; brother Don (Becky) Scheuneman; brother-in-law Terry Wilkowski; and several nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in the many lives he touched and in the family he loved so dearly.

A celebration of Randall’s life will be held on Saturday, October 10, at 9:30 a.m. at Center Church, 858 Technology Way, Libertyville, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to BrainUp, an organization near and dear to the family.
