Ronald Ellis Olson

Ronald Ellis Olson, 67, of Lisle, Illinois, passed away suddenly in his sleep on Friday, May 12, 2023.  He was born July 1, 1955, in Fridley, Minnesota to Arthur and Gloria (nee Slumberger) Olson.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife Suzan Rey-Olson; his sons Ellis Rey-Olson and Evan (Dolores) Rey-Olson; his brother Glen (Leigh) Olson of Lino Lakes, MN; his mother-in-law Dorothy (the late Eli) Rey of Orchard Park, NY; his wife's close cousin Debra (Michael) Persutti; his nieces and nephews Stacey (Shane) Busta, Troy Alguire, Heather (Pete) Hansen, Ryan (Jill) Olson, Jeffrey (Brittany) Persutti of Lancaster, NY, and Sara Persutti of Atlanta, GA; his great-nieces and nephews Tyler, Lindsay, Carter, Madeline, Kiley, Claire, Calvin and Adela; and his neighbors who became family, Esperanza “Grandma Hope” (the late Grandpa Lambert) Ramirez and Christopher Ramirez.

He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Gloria; and his sister Joyce Alguire (survived by Donald Swanson) of Blaine, MN.

Ron was a graduate of Fridley High School in 1973.  He was a great friend to many of all ages here in Chicago, the Twin Cities, MN, and Buffalo, NY.  He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan.  Clementine and Munchkin will really miss their dog and cat walks with their Grandpa; Ron’s late pooches Jake, Foosball, and Frisky Frue were his buddies too.

A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the family’s home in the Chicagoland area.  Visiting will start at 4 pm with a Memorial Service at 5 pm.  Casual dress please; wearing purple would be great!  A separate service will take place in Minnesota in the future – please check back for details.
