Rudolph "Rudy" Stefancic

Rudolph (Rudy) Stefancic, age 100, was born November 17, 1924, in Johnston City, Illinois, the youngest child of Croatian immigrants Mirko Stefancic and Margareta (Fak).  Rudy joined his beloved wife, Ruth, in eternal peace on August 19, 2025.

Husband for 55 years of childhood friend, Ruth Margaret Medic.  Proud and grateful father of son and daughter-in-law Mark and Patricia (Cleveland), and daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Bill Nicholson.

Proud Grandfather of Brendon (Molly) Stefancic and Bailey (Kevin) Springstroh, and great-grandfather of Mason Joel Springstroh.

Preceded in death by sisters Stephania, Mary (Willard) Bischof, brothers Florian (Emma Cernick), Michael (Ruth Weiher), Thomas (Grace Azarone), and George Stefan.  Survived by sister-in-law Betty (Toby) Stefan, and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

WWII veteran serving in the 10th Mountain Division in campaigns in the North Apennines Mountains, the Po Valley, and Southern Alps.  Awarded the bronze star for bravery in action.

Worked in livestock marketing and sales for 40 years at Chicago’s Union Stock Yards.

Rudy will be remembered by his sparkling eyes and warm smile, and truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Family and Friends will gather at Peace Memorial Church 10300 West 131st St. Palos Park, Illinois.

Memorial Visitation: Friday August 29th from 4:00pm-8:00pm

Saturday Morning Visitation: 10:00am until Funeral Service at 11:00am
