Sean Keith Cerami, born on August 16, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, was a man whose laughter and intelligence filled every room he entered. He passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, in Elk Grove, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Sean's life was defined not by the length of his time on earth but by the depth of his impact on those around him.
Born in Chicago and raised in Schaumburg, Sean was quite a colorful character to all who knew him. Born to the late JoAnne Matzuka and Santo Cerami, he was a loving brother to Shea Cerami and his sister-in-law Tina, and to Colleen Cerami Bittner and her husband Jason. He was an adored uncle to his nephews Blake and Reece, and his niece Drew. Sean was also a cherished brother to Timothy Dunlevy and Marie and a stepson to Tom Matzuka and Debra Cerami.
Sean was a proud graduate of Schaumburg High School, class of 1981. His passion for mechanics and problem-solving led him to a fulfilling career as a transmission builder and auto and motorcycle mechanic. He was a man who found joy in the intricate dance of gears and pistons and took immense pride in his craft.
In his youth, Sean was an avid baseball and football player and enjoyed the competition of the games. Later in life, he continued his love for sports by joining a bowling league, where he was known for his precision and friendly yet fierce competition. Sean also found solace in the excitement of horse racing and the freedom of the open road while riding his motorcycle.
Sean’s personality was marked by his loving nature, his humor that would easily coax a smile. A master debater, he had an intelligence that was both profound and practical. He approached life with a sense of curiosity and wonder, always eager to learn and to teach.
Sean's life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family bonds, and the enduring spirit of friendship. As we say our final goodbyes, we carry with us the memories of a life well-lived and a man well-loved. Sean Cerami will be missed, but never forgotten.
