Terrence L Nordeen

Terrence L. Nordeen, age 69, of Carpentersville IL, Terry passed away in hospice care at Citadel Care Center, Elgin IL, after a courageous battle with cancer.

After leaving Downers Grove South High School, Terry enlisted in the US Navy in 1969, and was stationed in Long Beach CA, detailed to the USS Juneau. He served proudly during the Viet Nam era.

Terry worked as a carpenter laborer when he returned home, then changed careers to work as a tool & dye maker, only to return to his position as a union carpenter laborer and retiring in 2012. Terry was a “tinkerer”. He loved to take things apart & rebuild them, or to create new devices to make life easier.

Terry is survived by his daughter, Tammie (John) Rotan, granddaughters Bonnie (Victor) Plescia, Ashley (Omar) Garduno, Tiffany Rotan, grandson Phillip Rotan, 6 great-grandchildren; brother Thomas (Linda) Nordeen; sister Nancy Nordeen, numerous nieces, grand-nieces/nephews, cousins and the countless friends he made along the way. He will be deeply missed by all his dear friends from Barone’s Pizzeria, Carpentersville IL. Thank you for being there for him. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Kermit (in 2001) & Alice (nee Gideo) Nordeen (in 1996).

According to Terry’s wishes, there will be no funeral services, but family and friends are invited to gather Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:30 am at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd. (just west of Rt. 53), Elwood, IL. for Committal Service and Military Honors.  Enter the main road of the cemetery and meet at the Guest reception center to prepare for procession to Committal Shelter.
