Thomas Allen Manion age 82, United States Army Veteran passed away May 20, 2025.
Tom was the beloved husband of Beth nee: Kovacic. Loving Father of the late Tracey Behling. Grandfather of Sabrina (Jeff) Ong. Son of the late Michael and Ruth (nee: Yeadon) Manion. Brother of Kathy (Ralph) Palumbo and the late Michael and Bill Manion. Uncle to many nieces and nephews and a friend to all.
Tom entered the army at age 17 and received an honorable discharge. He continued to serve by becoming a Chicago Police Officer for nearly 20 years. Tom finished the last 14 years as an officer with the Will County Sheriff’s Police. While on Will County he took a leave to become the acting Chief of the Will County Forest Preserve. He later returned to the Sheriff’s Police Department where he stayed until retirement.
Tom was very competitive. He worked out and ran religiously. Sports included competitive Hand Ball, Sky Diving, Riding Horses, Steer Wrestling, Owning Race Horses, and Riding his Harley just to name a few.
Tom also enjoyed spending winters in Florida. He enjoyed the warm weather and his Floridian friends. Since retirement, he purchased and renovated several properties there, which he would keep for a while then sell and start another renovation.
Tom was a man who lived life well and did everything to the fullest. He will be remembered for the twinkle in his eyes and his mischievous sense of humor. All who had the pleasure of knowing him will miss him.
