Dr. David Michael Resk, age 78, of Naperville and formerly of Elm Grove, Wisconsin passed away on March 5, 2018. David was the loving father of David Jr. (Teresa Rierson), Kevin, and Rachael Resk; cherished grandfather of David III, and Sophia Resk; dear brother of Bob, Tom, and Joan Resk; beloved companion of 40 years, Rogene Gall.

Dave was raised in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago and attended St. Leo Catholic High School. He went on to graduate from the University of Illinois with a Doctorate of Medicine. He then served in the United States Air Force as a Doctor with the final rank of Major. David settled in Wisconsin to practice medicine where he met his longtime girlfriend, Rogene. They eventually settled in Elm Grove, Wisconsin and he became the Head of Pathology at St. Francis Hospital.

Dave had many interests in life. He enjoyed nature, hiking, reading, teaching, and playing chess. As a past Mensa member, he was a lover of learning.

He will be dearly missed by Rogene, his children, grandchildren and siblings.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm at Beidelman-Kusnch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL 60540.

Safe harbor, bro. Growing up without your presence in my world would never have taught me the hard-life lessons that you did by winning my 3 dollar/wk allowance money in less than 20 minutes playing 7-card stud, then turning around and trying to "loan" it back to me - at a usurious rate! - so I could take the bus to high school. That's why I recall hitch-hiking in sub-zero weather from 95th and Western to Brother Rice HS every day that week. All thanks to my ever-lovin' bro, Dave, and this 15 y/o's stupidity. A good business lesson learned early. Thanks for that and so much more. Oh, and did I not mention the pizza gambit? But, I'll leave that to Bob who'll be there with the fam. The oldest culprit.

Rachael, my condolences for the loss of your father. Burying our parents is something that all of us have to go through at some point, provided we're fortunate enough to outlive them.
Although it doesn't make it much easier to deal with, you're very fortunate to have had a father into your mid-40s. Not everyone is so lucky... as you know, I lost mine when I was 28. I hope that you have some good memories that you can hang onto and smile whenever you think about them, and some pictures that you can look at and laugh whenever you look at them. Continue to be strong, as you always have been...I'm here whenever & wherever you need anything, 24/7/365.... until the end of time. Peace, love, strength and happiness to you.
